Great place cabin's very nice wonderful walking trail
I loved X Bar Ranch! The deck on the back of the lodge is divine. Great place to stop on the way to Big Bend - or even as its own destination.
So quiet and quaint. The perfect place for Austinites to take a chill weekend.
The lodge has a very nice deck and overlooks the pasture (no other buildings in the distance). Lodge amenities are nice (kitchen, meeting room, living room, grill, fire pit, horseshoes, washers, cowboy golf, etc). The pool is quite appealing. The wildlife viewing pond was dry, though we saw some wildlife around the yard. The trails are okay; they just wind through the pasture. The cabins seem clean, but are tiny and cramped with very small windows. The AC drowns out any sounds of nature at night. The continental breakfast (which we weren't expecting) is packaged pastries and juice, possibly oatmeal. Lynn (one of the owners) was very friendly. A nice enough place to spend a night or two.
Always a favorite place to come enjoy a quiet night under beautiful dark skies.
